(72) Assay Card

General Information
Summary Both gassericin A and reutericin 6 assessed by viability on indicator cells L. delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus JCM 1002T.
Condition Addition of bacteriocin to indicator cell suspension, cell viability, cell lysis and bacteriocin activity determined after 0, 60 and 120 min at 37 degrees Celsius incubation.
Result Cell viability decreased from 7.7E8 to 6.8E7 CFU/ml at same levels of activity (60 AU/ml), but time to reach stationary cell number were 60 min (gassercin A) and 120 min (reutercin 6). No cell lysis was caused.
AssayType Anti-bacterial
